All computer DVD drives use firmware to communicate with the computer. This firmware, also known as a driver, is important to keep up to date, if you want to make sure the DVD drive is able to communicate and function with newer hardware. Thankfully, it is possible to upgrade the firmware for the DVD drive through a standard download
Instructions

Open your Internet browser and go to the DVD drive’s manufacturer website.

Choose the “Support” option, then select “Downloads and Drivers.” When the screen changes, enter in your DVD drive’s product or model number.

Select the operating system you are running, then click the download link provided. This downloads the DVD driver upgrade directly to your computer system.

Double-click the downloaded firmware driver to start the Installation Wizard. Accept the end-user agreement, then follow the prompts to install the firmware update onto your computer
