The Advantages of the Newest Small Laptops
In this day and age, computers can be found in almost every aspect of your life. They can range from being a component in your car to how you earn your living and the entire world seems to be connected by the Internet in one way, shape or form. One of the easiest and most convenient ways to keep up with this form of connectivity is by owning one of the new small laptops that seem to be everywhere.
These small laptops, sometimes referred to as netbooks, are a smaller more lightweight version of the larger laptops that may be used for work or if space in the home is limited. These smaller versions can do almost as much as their larger cousins but a lower price. Their portability makes them a good choice over having to carry around a briefcase with a standard sized laptop and all of the accessories in it.
Each of these small laptops comes already equipped with a built in wireless connection and the ability to be used almost anywhere. They fit in a purse or backpack with much more ease than a regular laptop and add little extra weight. This can be very advantageous to the student or busy mom who needs to carry books and other items and truly cannot afford to add anything larger to their already overweight bag.
Most of these small laptops come with a standard operating system already loaded and it is usually comparable to what is on your home computer to allow for uploading and downloading of files with ease. The hard drives in the netbooks can range in size but the average is around 2 gigabytes. This coupled with plenty of memory lets this little laptop handle most applications with ease.
Many small laptops have become the norm for person to person communication as they almost all come with a built in microphone and video camera for chatting. This makes it as convenient as a cell phone but with the video capability, one step above. These features, coupled with a much longer battery run time than the average cell phone, may very well become just as commonplace.
There are a few things to be wary of when looking to purchase one of these. The battery life in some of the models can be quite low and they will need to be recharged frequently or run with the cord plugged. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s specifications as they will tell you what the actual run time is on a fully charged battery.
The easiest way to compare many of these laptops is by doing a brief Internet search. This will bring all of the manufacturers and suppliers directly to you and the actual specifications for all of the different models will be listed on each of their websites. Be sure to check that the battery life is what you will need for your expected use along with the proper wireless set up that you will need for your area.
