How do I overheat an old computer?
I have a computer that’s older than crap, and I want to have some fun with it. How do I overheat, maybe even make it smoke some? Thanks.
I don’t want it to burn the house down
The freeware program Prime95 is a good way to stress a processor. It will run a processor at 100% causing it to heat up. The BIOS on some motherboards also allow you to set the temperature for when the processor fails or for when the fans will turn on. If all else fails, unplugging or removing the CPU fan will help it to heat up.
